'Making screen print possible for designers so our art finds a path to enterprise product and ideas.'

The Imprint is designed so you can create your own T-shirts and do genuine production runs at home or in your studio. Designed to solve the idea of minimum runs and costs of manufacture while sampling and maintaining flexibility in colour and garment choices we are bringing fashion finish print to the designers.

The problem we solve for who!

As screen printers with vast (15 years commercial) experience printing T-shirts for major brands and local cafes and bands and also as yardage printers printing continuos runs of fabric for fashion and theatre, we saw a definite need in the art and emerging entrepreneur communities for the short run and experimental pieces. Where an artist was better advised to try their first piece as a sample and or take that to market and gain traction and interest as opposed to doing commercial print runs of 20+ with untested designs.

We'd see young artists come in and do the minimum 20 pieces at a cost of $300 - 400 and be wiped out when it didn't sell as anticipated. They may take that to market and people would say things like do you have one in black or I'd buy one if it was on a hoodie etc etc

All very frustrating for a young artists! - And expensive!

I mean! How many times can you do that?

Where we know after teaching hundreds of people and printing for hundreds of artists and doing massive exhibitions with emerging and established artists .... what the artist really needs is to see the piece finished and start to integrate art and design and the print process into their thinking and be able to keep developing their style as finished products.
When it becomes your art and T-shirt and presented to your market!

We still advocate to be serious about your design when committing to a screen but also say design something that can experience nine lives. One design, Printed in 3 different colours and 4 different styles of T-shirt. Work on your presentation and labelling and present a variation to your market of your extended idea.

And when someone says - I'd take one in black on a navy blue hoodie you can turn around and say
"What a cool colour combo, that'll be $80"

And the big secret is - your second and third designs get better!
You understand your art better - the market better - the range of garments better ...

The combination of process / colour / style - BETTER!

... and once you find the first contagious piece that people just want to buy - Then you print 20!

It's about the freedom to create a new piece and work with the piece and develop a skill and a style.

It's about printing band shirts on Friday night for a Saturday night gig,
it's about printing staff shirts for a local start-up cafe and using that money for your own production money.

It's about printing posters and filling a room with 200 people and launching a brand.

Really! You have one life - print your art ... make it real!

Crowdfunding Video

Check out our crowdfunding video featuring Ginger Taylor and Sindy Sinn and Narrated by some other guy that we don't know but also showing how and why we invented the Imprint and short bios of the two inventors Seaton McKeon and Steve Woods

The Imprint gives you unprecedented flexibility to design and print multicolour art.

You can print as many colours as you like on The Imprinter!

This machine & system are designed to eliminate and mitigate challenges, tricks and known problems between your art and your product.

Which means ... we designed a way to make it flow.

The IMPRINT has 3 main core ideas that make up

the IMPRINTER STUDIO / KITCHEN system.

Ultra compact and ultra portable.

At 7kg the base Imprint is portable enough to carry on a train, compact enough to print in your studio or kitchen and small enough to pack away under a bed - Just like the Woody.

Waterbased inks available everywhere.

Waterbased inks available (Permaset) designed to be both professional finish and non toxic in enclosed spaces around kids, pets and people.

Done for you or DIY screen systems

We can expose screens for you and send them out via mail order or teach you the full 'Do It Yourself' system, exposing screens in the sun.

So simple, once practiced - you not only experience the touch and feel of creating a screenprint with your hands but it also opens the doors where you can see and make real ideas come to life through products and enterprises.

This is your doorway to printing a brand or starting a print business.

HAPPY PLAYERS

"A perfect example of brilliantly efficient design. Equal parts small business workhorse and artist's canvas. Perfect for getting that first job from a client or a students first exposure to printing."

Ryan Leggat, Key Print

"Before being introduced to the Imprint, we were using boards for our community screen-printing program. Now, the Imprint machine made the process significantly more efficient and meant the t-shirts prints were of a commercial standard. It was a great addition to our program as we now had the opportunity to focus more on the t-shirt design aspect of our program. We're official fans."

Ryan Blakley, Uplift Enactus UNSW

HOW WE STARTED

WHY did we create the Imprint?

From 2008-2020 we held multiple exhibitions and exhibiting over 250 artists and taught well over 300 people how to print.

During these classes we discovered 3 main challenges -

People needed to buy a lot of equipment to continue printing when they went home.

People really liked the classes but wanted to keep learning more advanced techniques.

Previous printing carousels and T-shirt machines inevitably got broken during classes

So our answer to this challenge was to invent a machine with no moving parts, springs or hinges of any kind so people could print in their kitchens and invite friends over and watch a few videos online and print without machines breaking or taking up heaps of permanent space.

Why

So it all comes down to our mission...

We love designers and we know we can teach people to print and this serves our much bigger purpose to teach people how to take their ideas through to real products so they can start their own brands and businesses, or really explore their art and ideas.

Have a look at our video here - it's a roundup of our thinking
